Dear Homily Subscribers: Please feel free to leave your comments! and they will be forwarded to Father Matt. This Homily Ministry will continue with podcasts obtained from Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, San Luis Obispo in July. In Christ's Love, Denise

Dear Fr. Matt, Greetings and salutations from Capitola By the Sea. Bob and I travel for business quite often, and we have LOVED receiving the podcast emails. It is a great way to keep up with your insights and teachings. Thank you so very much. We're thrilled Nativity will continue the podcasts and look forward to them starting up once you begin at Nativity. Also, love the photo on the Farewell podcast. We'll always cherish when you renewed our wedding vows for us. Thank you for years of making attending Mass so happy. Cheers, Elaine (and Bob)

I've had my ups and downs with Fr Matt for six years but it all came together when I last saw Fr Matt on June 3 and he sincerely expressed his condolences for my mom who had died on June 1. His last words to me: Have courage. Of all the sentiments folks have said to me as I try to accept mom's death, no one has told me to 'have courage.' But it makes sense. I do need courage right now: courage to accept the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish one from the other. He also said he loved the meditative book I made for him, calling it a labor of love. If he only knew how hard it was to put it together while also caring for Mom! I only have a handful of priests in my life that mean a lot to me, who have touched my heart, and Fr Matt is definitely one of those priests. God sends us angels to assist us in this life: Fr Matt was one of those angels. I will miss him.

Dear Father Matt, I was raised in Capitola until college. Came back and taught at Capitola School where I had attended. I met my beautiful wife Betsy there on our first day of student teaching in 1957. We were married in the old St. Joseph's Church that same year and we we will be celebrating our 55th anniversary on Sat. Our last 44 years we have spent in Merced where I worked 30 of those years as a dean at our local college and Betsy teaching at Our lady of Mercy School. We were left my family home in Aptos and were fortunate to attend many of your masses. What an inspiration you have been to us. We have been blessed to have you in our lives. Thank you for what you have added to our spiritual lives. God Bless you on your life journey. Jerry and Betsy Schaffer.

Dear Father Matt, I've had the pleasure of knowing you since you first came to San Agustin Parish in Scotts Valley many years ago. Over the years I have greatly enjoyed and looked forward to attending your Masses. I am so disappointed to have missed your Farewell last week at St. Joseph's and will miss hearing your inspirational and humorous homilies "live". But I do look forward to keeping in touch via podcast. You will be greatly missed. Wishing you the best always. Donna Cavallaro
